Anger Unfounded

by Randy Chambers

Romans 9:20, NIV: But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? "Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, 'Why did you make me like this?'"

It has been said that it is ok to be angry with God, or to question Him, because, “He is big enough to take it.” That He is. And He is more than able to forgive and forget all of our shortcomings. But, is it a shortcoming to be angry with God, or to question His intentions? Not everyone would agree. If I believe that God is Sovereign, then who am I to question His intentions? If I believe that God has my best interest at heart, then why should I be angry or question His intent? If I believe that God is Holy and in Him is no wrong, then for what reason would I for a moment look at him as I do sinful humanity; as though He could ever be deserving of judgment or criticism? God is faithful, just, holy, and so much more. When I consider Who God is, and when I consider my own imperfections in how I perceive Him, and His will; I find it irrational to trust my perceptions over His Person. In such times as I doubt, it seems best to let go of how I think things should be, and simply cling to Him with a child-like faith. It is hard for anger against Him to rise from such a heart.

Life and a Living

by Randy Chambers, 2007-06-01

Matthew 4:4; NIV: Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Imagine a world in which you never had to worry again about making a living. Imagine a life in which you never need be concerned about what you and your family would have to eat. Imagine it is a place where you have all your needs met, and all you had to think about was seeking the Lord, and doing His will. Now imagine the world you live in as being that very place. For indeed it truly is. But it requires faith to see it. It requires a willingness to let go of how we perceive things to be, and to accept them as God tells us they are. Jesus said we do “not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Imagine living a life wherein we worked harder to be filled with God’s words, than we do to have our tables filled with food, and our wallets filled with cash.

Mere Appearances

It's been awhile. Where did the months go?

Mere Appearances

by Randy Chambers

John 7:24, NIV: Stop judging by mere appearances, and make a right judgment.

Imagine how much we miss out on because we allow our choices to be influenced by appearance. We may miss out on a relationship with a wonderful, godly person because maybe they seem a little odd. Or maybe we miss out on working a job where God knows we would be happiest, because it doesn't seem to pay what we think it should. Perhaps we miss out on leading a soul to Christ because of the apparent lack of time, money, etc. It is time we stop looking with the eyes of flesh and start looking through the eyes of God. Only then will we experience His will perfected in us, and have the abundant and full life that He wants for us. Only then will we be able to beyond what seems to be, to what is.

What You Could Be

by Randy Chambers

Luke 9:23-25, NIV: Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?

Have you ever taken a good look at yourself through the eyes of God? What does He see? He sees you where you are. He has seen what you once were, and sees who you are today. He sees you clearly. He loves you where you are. He has always loved you. He loved you while you were yet sinning and lost. He loved you when you turned to Him. And He loves you still. He sees where you need to be. There is a place God wants to take us. He desires to enable you to repent of your sin, die daily to your selfishness, and to take up your cross daily and follow Him. He sees your potential. He has given you a purpose and a plan to become what He sees you to be. He has developed you specifically for a place and time where you can be part of His plan to bring many to Jesus. Where are you today? Where could you be a year from now? What needs to happen for you to become what God has intended for you all along?

Not A Care In The World

by Randy Chambers

Mark 4:19, NIV: But the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful.

Sometimes I wonder if I could care less. Could I care less about making a living, working a job, or planning for retirement? I would hope I could care for that only to the extent that I should. “For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them” (Mt. 6:32). Sometimes I wonder if I could care less for people. I would hope that I could care more. But selfish apathy sometimes finds my flesh is weak. The trouble is not when we care, or care less, but when our care is misplaced. Things in the world are fleeting, and the cares for this life will leave us empty. But caring for the things of God is like investing in best retirement plan imaginable--one that bears the best kind of interest. Christ centered caring does not disregard the things of this life, or people, or anything. Instead, it enables us to care for all things in a manner that honors God, and keeps all things in perspective.
